🔥 Fire Safety 🔥

Our Commitment

At the Clear Lake Fire Department Auxiliary, keeping our community safe is at the heart of everything we do. Fire safety starts at home, and a few simple steps can make all the difference in protecting your family, your property, and your neighbors.

Home Safety Basics

Smoke Detectors – Install smoke detectors in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home. Test monthly and replace batteries at least once a year.
Carbon Monoxide Detectors – Essential if you heat with gas, wood, or propane. Place them near sleeping areas and check them regularly.
Fire Extinguishers – Keep one in the kitchen, garage, and near heating sources. Make sure everyone in the household knows how to use it.
Escape Plan – Create and practice a home fire escape plan with at least two ways out of each room. Choose a safe meeting place outside.

Seasonal Fire Safety Tips

  • Spring/Summer – Use caution with campfires, fireworks, and outdoor grills. Never leave them unattended.

  • Fall/Winter – Have your furnace, chimney, and wood stoves inspected yearly. Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn.

Outdoor & Wildfire Safety

  • Never burn brush or leaves without checking fire danger conditions.

  • Keep your property clear of dry leaves and debris.

  • Store firewood at least 30 feet away from your home.
