🔥 Fire Safety 🔥
Our Commitment
At the Clear Lake Fire Department Auxiliary, keeping our community safe is at the heart of everything we do. Fire safety starts at home, and a few simple steps can make all the difference in protecting your family, your property, and your neighbors.
Home Safety Basics
✅ Smoke Detectors – Install smoke detectors in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home. Test monthly and replace batteries at least once a year.
✅ Carbon Monoxide Detectors – Essential if you heat with gas, wood, or propane. Place them near sleeping areas and check them regularly.
✅ Fire Extinguishers – Keep one in the kitchen, garage, and near heating sources. Make sure everyone in the household knows how to use it.
✅ Escape Plan – Create and practice a home fire escape plan with at least two ways out of each room. Choose a safe meeting place outside.
Seasonal Fire Safety Tips
Spring/Summer – Use caution with campfires, fireworks, and outdoor grills. Never leave them unattended.
Fall/Winter – Have your furnace, chimney, and wood stoves inspected yearly. Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn.
Outdoor & Wildfire Safety
Never burn brush or leaves without checking fire danger conditions.
Keep your property clear of dry leaves and debris.
Store firewood at least 30 feet away from your home.
